Legal Counsel III

Role Overview: The Counsel III; Sr. Principal provides strategic intellectual property guidance supporting advanced technologies such as software, AI, and electrification. This role leads complex patent clearance, landscape analysis, patentability assessments, drafting, prosecution, and portfolio management, collaborating with leadership to mitigate IP risks and identify strategic opportunities. It also involves driving process improvements and supporting Honda’s long-term IP and technology strategies to foster innovation and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: Manage patent legal support across multiple business units, handle high-risk projects in emerging tech fields, supervise small legal teams, and assist in patent application drafting and prosecution. Qualifications & Skills: Juris Doctor, admission to relevant state bar, minimum 15 years of legal experience focused on patent activities, strong knowledge of software and electrical technologies, and proven ability to lead complex patent projects independently. Additional focus on process creation, collaboration, and continuous learning is essential.
