About the role
Provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. Partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. Strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel on operational and administrative matters
- Advise on student affairs and academic matters regarding policies like Title IX
- Support compliance with federal and state educational regulations
- Advise on governance matters including contracts and intellectual property
- Conduct investigations and recommend resolution strategies
- Assist in negotiations and dispute resolution with stakeholders
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years in employment law and higher education law
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Experience in legal counsel within higher education environments
- Experience in institutional governance and policy development
- Strong knowledge of regulations affecting higher education such as Title IX, FERPA, and Title IV
- Willingness to obtain and maintain licensure in Illinois promptly after hire

Pay
$160,000 – $165,000 annually
