Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Employment Attorney to provide legal advice and support on employment law matters, draft employment-related documents, manage litigation and investigations, and oversee outside counsel.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer day-to-day legal counsel on issues such as wage and hour compliance, hiring, disciplinary actions, workplace accommodations, leaves, and employee benefits.
- Manage employment litigation, arbitrations, administrative charges, and internal investigations, including drafting position statements, reviewing pleadings, and negotiating settlements.
- Collaborate with HR, Employee Relations, Compliance, and business leaders on employment matters, especially involving licensed financial professionals and regulatory reporting.
- Draft and review employment policies, separation agreements, and related documents.
- Monitor legal developments related to employment laws, harassment regulations, and industry-specific compliance.
- Support training initiatives and participate in cross-functional legal projects, with experience in financial services regulations considered a plus.
Qualifications & Skills
- J.D. degree and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 9+ years practicing law, with 3+ years in financial services or supporting financial institutions.
- Strong litigation background and understanding of employment laws, contracts, and legal documentation.
- Excellent analytical, drafting, negotiation, and client relations skills.
- Ability to provide pragmatic advice, work under pressure, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
