About the role

The Legal Counsel will provide in-house legal advice and guidance on a wide range of corporate matters, including contracts, employment law, customs and trade law, and compliance. The role involves assisting in the resolution of disputes, managing litigation/arbitration, and reviewing and interpreting legal requirements for the business and external stakeholders. This position reports to the Sr. Legal Counsel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support and guidance to the business team and management on a variety of legal issues.
  • Manage and resolve legal disputes, including disputes with commercial parties.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Provide supervision to outside lawyers hired to assist the company with their specialized legal services.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents, including purchase agreements, sales agreements, service agreements, and lease agreements.
  • Design, build, and improve legal team processes.
  • Consult and protect Qcells against legal risks, penalties, and investigations.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), or an equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
  • A member in good standing with a state bar association.
  • Experience as in-house counsel or at a law firm (or a combination of both).
  • Professional legal experience handling legal disputes such as litigation and arbitration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as in-house counsel or at a law firm (or a combination of both).
  • Bilingual (Korean & English).
  • Experience in the solar industry, energy sector, or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in managing construction disputes.
