Legal Assistant, Tech Disputes
Our Commercial Litigation Practice specializes in representing clients in high-stakes business disputes across a wide range of industries. We provide expert legal services in areas such as contract disputes, class actions, business torts, shareholder and partnership disputes, antitrust litigation, and intellectual property litigation. Our team handles all phases of litigation, from pre-litigation counseling and strategic planning to trial and appellate proceedings. By leveraging our deep legal expertise, global reach, and strategic insights, we help clients navigate complex legal challenges, protect their business interests, and achieve favorable outcomes through both court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution methods.
This role is a member of a team that handles all international litigation for a major social media client, including matters implicating international data protection, defamation, hosting provider liability, privacy, and censorship laws.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive support to the legal team, performing more complex or non-routine tasks such as document preparation or analysis, and other duties essential to maintaining efficient processes
- Assists in handling more complex tasks, assignments, and matters for the relevant legal practice
- Collaborates with team members to complete assigned tasks and projects, contributing to the successful delivery of legal services to clients
- Supports the preparation and distribution of matter materials
- Reviews new matters received on a daily basis and prepares short summaries for each matter
- Develops expert-level knowledge of matter flow
- Tracks matter flow and maintains up-to-date case files
- Creates and maintains databases, charts, graphs, and tables for data analysis
- Utilizes litigation support software programs and other spreadsheet and database programs as needed to perform client projects
- Prepares daily time entries for services performed
- Maintains a good understanding of matter principles, practices, and procedures, staying informed of changes and updates in the field
- May help train new members of the team and serve as an informal resource
Requirements
- Ability to work fairly independently within established guidelines and procedures with guidance from more senior roles, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Developing analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate and select appropriate alternatives from defined options in routine work
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree required

Pay
NY Salary range: $61,000 - $68,000
