What You'll Do
- Prepare, edit, format, and proofread legal documents and correspondence
- Draft and assemble pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery, notices, and other court filings
- Electronically file documents with state and federal courts
- Manage digital and physical client files while maintaining document organization and naming conventions
- Cook up client and matter intake, engagement letters, and administrative workflows
- Support billing processes, including editing billing narratives and assisting with pre-bill review
- Maintain deadlines and proactively remind attorneys of critical dates and month-end requirements
- Conduct basic legal research using online resources and Lexis
- Cook up travel arrangements and other administrative needs
- Collaborate with attorneys, legal assistants, and internal support teams to ensure exceptional client service
What We're Looking For
- 2–4+ years of legal assistant or legal secretary experience, preferably supporting litigation practices
- Probate litigation experience is highly preferred
- Knowledge of court procedures, filing requirements, and electronic filing systems
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to support multiple attorneys in a fast-paced environment
- A high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
- A strong client service mindset and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal document management systems
- Experience with legal practice management, billing, and document management software is a plus
- Notary Public license (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary: $80,000–$95,000, based on experience and qualifications
