Total Wine & More is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Legal team in our Bethesda, MD office. You will provide administrative and legal support across a variety of corporate, regulatory, licensing, compliance, and litigation-related matters.
Responsibilities
- Support legal matter administration by conducting basic legal, regulatory, licensing, and compliance research; coordinating document collection; maintaining litigation and compliance records; monitoring legal deadlines; and communicating with outside counsel and business partners regarding routine legal requests.
- Maintain legal files, corporate records, matter documentation, and department databases to ensure records are accurate, organized, current, and readily accessible in accordance with established procedures.
- Support licensing and regulatory compliance activities by tracking applications, renewals, filing deadlines, and regulatory notices; preparing required documentation; and coordinating with internal stakeholders, government agencies, and outside partners.
- Prepare, review for completeness, distribute, and maintain routine legal forms, correspondence, agreements, corporate records, certifications, and other legal documents using approved templates and established department processes.
- Implement licensing processes for store operating companies, including tracking applications, renewals, and regulatory submissions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 1 year of experience in a legal assistant, junior paralegal, administrative, corporate or law office, records, or related support environment.
- Foundational skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and document management or file tracking.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with willingness to ask questions and follow direction.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing clearly defined tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate professionally with internal teams, external parties, and government agencies.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate legal files, records, and deadlines.
- Ability to protect confidential information and handle sensitive documents with discretion.
Qualifications
- Certified Paralegal is preferred.

You will report to the General Counsel. Compensation may vary based on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
