Legal Assistant

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate and process extradition requests received by SLED's Office of General Counsel.
• Receive, log, review, research, track, and process extradition requests and other requests as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws and procedures regarding extraditions.
• Ensure requests are accomplished within mandated time limits as required by law.
• Assist SLED's Office of General Counsel with special projects, events, and other activities.
• This includes answering telephone calls, responding to emails, and assisting with general tasks as needed.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

• A high school diploma.
• Must have experience with data management, record keeping, communications, scheduling, and drafting correspondence and legal documents.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to exercise judgment and discretion.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the agency.

General Responsibility

Serve as a Legal Assistant for SLED's Office of General Counsel and assist with special projects and activities as needed.
