About the role
The Insurance Defense Case Manager supports attorneys handling insurance defense matters by coordinating case activities, managing documentation, tracking deadlines, and serving as a key liaison among clients, carriers, experts, and legal staff. This role helps ensure cases move efficiently through all phases of litigation.
Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume caseload of insurance defense matters from intake through resolution
- Maintain case files, pleadings, correspondence, discovery, medical records, and other litigation documents
- Track and calendar deadlines for court filings, discovery responses, hearings, depositions, and trial preparation
- Communicate with attorneys, insurance adjusters, clients, opposing counsel, medical providers, and expert witnesses
- Review, organize, and summarize medical records, claim files, and investigation materials
- Cook up depositions, independent medical examinations, mediations, and court appearances
- Monitor case progress and provide regular status updates to attorneys and insurance carriers
- Ensure accurate entry of case information into case management and document management systems
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with firm procedures and legal requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent legal support experience preferred
- 4+ years of experience in insurance defense, litigation support, case management, or a related legal environment
- Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules, and legal documentation
- Experience handling medical records, discovery, and case calendaring preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
