Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant in our Crystal Lake office to join our fast-paced Corporate, Litigation, Real Estate, and Banking team. In this vital role, you’ll provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys working across a diverse range of practice areas. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, is an expert multitasker, and brings a solid understanding of corporate, litigation, real estate, and/or banking procedures—along with a passion for delivering exceptional legal support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, and proofread a variety of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Prepare and format documents in compliance with legal standards and firm guidelines.
- Support attorneys with real estate transactions for both private and commercial deals.
- Review, edit, and assist with the preparation of client billing.
- Prepare and file legal documents with government agencies and regulatory bodies.
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments and deadlines.
- Organize and maintain legal files, including corporate, litigation, and real estate matter files, both electronically and in physical format.
- Handle phone calls, emails, and client communications with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Track and ensure compliance with all filing deadlines and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters.
Required Competencies, Education and Experience
- Litigation experience required; real estate (private and commercial) and banking experience highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in corporate, litigation, real estate and/or banking law.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and document management systems.
- Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful, with a proactive and self-driven approach.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on delivering solutions.
- Able to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
What We Offer
- Starting Compensation Range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year
