Legal Assistant- Affidavits

Key Responsibilities

  • File Review & Data Gathering: Review case files to ensure readiness for affidavit preparation, request judgment figures through client systems, and accurately update our case management platform.
  • Document Compilation: Determine, obtain, and review supporting documentation—such as payment histories and loan records—based on specific jurisdictional requirements.
  • Privacy & Compliance: Redact personally identifiable information (PII) to comply with privacy laws, client guidelines, and firm policies, ensuring all affidavits meet strict court rules.
  • Document Drafting: Prepare and draft a variety of legal documents, including: Affidavits of Indebtedness, Loss Mitigation Affidavits, Statements of Review, Certificates of Business Records, and Quality Control Documents.
  • Quality Control & Workflow: Utilize quality checklists, submit documents for peer review prior to execution, monitor workflow queues, and maintain accurate status updates in client and internal systems.
  • Client Coordination: Upload completed affidavits to client portals, track documents through execution, and respond professionally to client inquiries.
  • Productivity: Meet or exceed established monthly goals for both volume and accuracy while taking on special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Litigation Assistant, or Paralegal.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Industry Background: Experience in foreclosure, mortgage servicing, creditor rights, collections, or real estate litigation is a strong plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiar with case management systems such as Perfect Practice, ICE, Tempo, or ADR.
  • Core Competencies: Strong skills in legal document drafting, data entry, time management, compliance awareness, and client communication.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Visual acuity to review legal documents and electronic records.
  • Effective communication skills via phone, video conferencing, and in-person interactions.
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment, including computers, scanners, and copiers.
  • Able to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds of files or office materials, and move throughout the office environment as needed.
