The California Lottery is a multi-billion-dollar enterprise headquartered in Sacramento. About the Role

Under the general supervision of the Chief Counsel, the Legal Analyst will provide legal analytical support to Lottery Legal staff. This position is headquartered in Sacramento and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, with employees required to reside in California and report to the assigned office as needed. Travel expenses to and from the headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze legal assignments.
• Categorize, organize, and maintain critical Legal Office documents in an electronic database.
• Provide recommendations to the Chief Counsel on regulations, policies, and procedures for legal review.

Requirements

• Current Legal Analyst exam eligibility is required. If you need to take the exam or if your score has expired, click here to gain list eligibility.
• Must clear a background investigation prior to hire, as mandated by the California State Lottery Act, which prohibits hiring individuals convicted of a felony or any gambling-related offense.
• If basing eligibility on education, provide transcripts and/or a diploma. Applicants with foreign transcripts must submit a transcript evaluation indicating equivalent units. Transcripts may be unofficial at the application stage but official transcripts will be required upon appointment. Redact birthdates and social security numbers.

Pay

$5,529.00 - $6,922.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range, when applicable.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific bargaining units and excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave hours each month. More details here.
