About the role
Boston University invites applications for two full-time faculty positions at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in the School of Law. The Lawyering Program provides intensive instruction in legal research, writing, and analysis; introduces students to other critical lawyering skills like client interviewing and oral advocacy; and engages students in an in-depth transactional simulation.
Responsibilities
- Teach two sections of approximately fifteen to twenty students, providing classroom instruction and individualized feedback on writing assignments, including conferencing with students on major assignments.
- Support each section with a research librarian and three 2L or 3L Lawyering Fellows.
- Attend program and faculty meetings.
- Judge 1L moot court arguments.
- Perform faculty service to BU Law as assigned.
Requirements
Candidates must have a degree from an accredited law school, excellent writing and analytical skills, and a strong academic record. Prior legal practice is required. Judicial clerkships also count as prior legal practice. Experienced legal writing teachers as well as those seeking to enter the profession are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
The position may lead to successive long-term contracts, including potential eligibility for a presumptively renewable contract.
