Lecturer or Instructional Assistant Professor of English Education

About the role

This position offers a variable teaching load with a competitive salary and benefits. The selected candidate will work closely with and under the direction of the Director of English Education and must also be able to work effectively with students, professionals in the field, and other staff and faculty in the program.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction within the English Education sequence, including teaching introductory English Education and methods coursework and fieldwork
• Supervise teacher candidates and student teachers
• Develop content knowledge and discipline-specific pedagogy informed by current theory and research in the field
• Engage teacher candidates in a professional learning community that sustains ongoing reflection, inquiry, and advocacy
• Enact socially just English Language Arts teaching and learning

Requirements

• Master's degree in English Education or related field
• Experience teaching English Education and methods coursework
• Ability to supervise teacher candidates and student teachers
• Commitment to socially just English Language Arts teaching and learning
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

• Doctorate in English Education or related field preferred
• Experience working with teacher candidates and student teachers
• Knowledge of current theory and research in the field of English Education
• Experience supervising teacher candidates and student teachers
• Ability to work effectively with students, professionals in the field, and other staff and faculty
