About the Role

The College of Health Science & Public Health at Eastern Washington University (EWU) is seeking a full-time Lecturer for the Department of Occupational Therapy. This is a standard 9-month faculty appointment (mid-August to mid-May) with a 100% teaching load as outlined in the University Collective Bargaining Agreement. The position is fully in-person and requires onsite presence during regular business operations. Lecturers play a key role in delivering high-quality graduate instruction, supporting student success through advising and mentorship, and contributing to ongoing assessment of student learning.

The Department of Occupational Therapy offers a competitive Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program conducted in a cohort model with 32 students per cohort. The program spans 2.5 years, with academic coursework completed in the first two years followed by two 3-month clinical internships. The department is part of the College of Health Science and Public Health (CHSPH), which includes programs in nursing, physical therapy, communication sciences and disorders, public health, health administration, wellness and movement sciences, dental hygiene, and Regional Initiatives in Dental Education (RIDE).

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate-level occupational therapy courses aligned with area of expertise and program needs.
• Deliver approximately 28-30 contact hours per academic year (mid-August through mid-May), subject to department needs.
• Meet all scheduled classes and maintain consistent instructional presence.
• Plan, organize, and communicate course expectations, including content, materials, assignments, attendance, and evaluation methods.
• Provide instruction in classroom, lab, and applied learning settings.
• Ensure courses align with Department of Occupational Therapy (DOT) expectations and Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) standards.
• Maintain current and accurate records of student performance and grades.
• Actively participate in student advising and ongoing assessment of student learning.

Requirements

• Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) or post-professional OTD (ppOTD) from an ACOTE-accredited program or equivalent in the field.
• Minimum of four years of clinical experience across a range of practice areas, with specialty in pediatrics, physical disabilities, and/or neurorehabilitation.
• Experience lecturing in an MOT and/or OTA program.
• Experience working effectively with inter-professional teams.
• Licensed as an occupational therapist in the state of Washington.
• Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach supportive of universal access for students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Occupational Therapy, ppOTD, or PhD in a closely related field.
• Specialty certification (e.g., Certified Hand Therapist, Assistive Technology Practitioner, Infant Mental Health Certification, AOTA Board Certification).
• Five or more years of diverse clinical experience (e.g., pediatrics, neurorehabilitation, health and wellness).
• Graduate-level teaching experience.
• Evidence of scholarly publications in occupational therapy or related fields.
• Demonstrated leadership and participation in professional activities.
• Experience working with or serving rural or underserved populations.

Pay

Expected salary upon hire: $71,793.

Schedule
