Lecturer in Math (Part-time)
About the role
Cornell College, a private undergraduate liberal arts college in Mount Vernon, Iowa, is seeking a Lecturer in Mathematics for two courses. Applicants may be considered for one course or both.
Responsibilities
- Teach MAT 122 - Calculus of Several Variables during Block 4: 11/16/26 - 12/16/26
- Teach MAT 236 - Differential Equations during Block 6: 2/08/27 - 3/03/27
- Engage in interdisciplinary teaching and develop teaching strategies that capitalize on the college's distinctive academic calendar.
- Offer classes with limited class sizes (up to 24 students) and participate in upper-level courses.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field is preferred.
- Candidates with at least a master’s degree in mathematics or a closely related field will also be considered.
Qualifications
- Strong teaching skills and ability to foster strong student engagement and close faculty-student relationships.
- Experience in teaching mathematics at the college level.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to a block schedule and offer classes at different times.
