About the role
We are seeking a dynamic personality with several years of professional experience as a Game Developer, Software Engineer or Technical Lead in the games or interactive media industry to bring current technological developments in software engineering, real-time graphics, game engines and extended reality into teaching and research.
Responsibilities
- Teaching in the technical core areas of Game Development, Computer Graphics, Game Engines and Mixed Reality in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes Code and Interactive Systems (up to 14 semester hours per week, including in English)
- Assisting in the coordination and development of courses and teaching materials in the field of Game and Mixed Reality
- Supervising academic theses and student projects
- Participating in the acquisition and implementation of (research) projects within the degree programme
- Academic and organisational support for the degree programme and contributing to the qualitative further development of the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes
- Developing and maintaining contacts with companies and industry partners (cooperations, projects, internships)
Requirements
- Completed university degree (Diploma, Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Games Engineering, Media Informatics or a comparable technical field
- Solid practical experience in developing complex software and game systems as well as in professional development processes
- At least three years of subject-relevant professional experience as a Game Developer, Software Engineer or Technical Lead in the games industry or related areas of interactive software development, or applied research in the fields of games, computer graphics or mixed reality (50% full-time equivalent over three years) since obtaining a university degree
- In-depth knowledge in several of the following areas:
- Game Engineering & Software Development
- Computer Graphics & Rendering
- Mixed Reality
- Generative AI for Games
- Pedagogical-didactic competence
- Excellent practical skills and ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary tasks
- Excellent proficiency in German and English
- Sensitivity and mindfulness in dealing with diversity
- Strong communication and social skills

Pay
Starting salary from €60,676 gross per year (remuneration based on qualifications and professional experience).
Schedule
- Full-time position (40 hours per week)
- Teaching load up to 14 semester hours per week
- Workplace: Campus Urstein
- Start: as soon as possible / by arrangement
- Fixed-term contract: initially 2 years
