Responsibilities
- Prepare and present lectures for students in the clinical courses for the BS and Master’s Entry Clinical Nurse (MECN) programs according to the curriculum.
- Construct, administer, and file appropriate student evaluations, including tests, performance exams (e.g., Objective Structured Clinical Exams [OSCEs]), and final grades.
- Provide consultation to clinical preceptors as required at clinical training sites to ensure effective student learning.
- Instruct students in fundamentals skills labs, and physical assessment labs as needed.
- Participate in one-on-one student coaching and remediation as directed.
- Serve as an academic advisor for BS & MECN students, as assigned by the BS & MECN Program Director.
- Provide feedback to the BS & MECN Program Director and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs regarding the fit of clinical sites to student learning as needed.
- Provide student counseling and mentorship as needed, in conjunction with the BS & MECN Program Director and the Associate Dean of Student Affairs.
- Function effectively as part of teaching teams.
Qualifications
- M.S. in Nursing
- Have a license as a Registered Nurse in California
- Clinical experience in at least one of the following areas: Medical-Surgical, Pediatrics, and/or Public Health.
- Preferred: Prior teaching experience
- National Certification in Clinical Nursing
- BRN Instructor Certification
