About the Department of Educational Leadership

The department offers three programs: the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program, the Master of Science in Educational Leadership, and the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential. Core values include equity-focused leadership, social justice, and organizational improvement. Courses emphasize dialogue, critical thinking, reflection, and experiential learning.

About the Role

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may be required to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term runs from late August to mid-December, and the Spring term from mid-January to mid-May. Summer teaching opportunities may also be available.

Applicants must meet specific qualifications based on the program they are applying to teach in:

• For the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential program: A master’s degree in a related field and prior experience as a school administrator.
• For the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program: A doctoral degree in educational leadership or a related field, along with demonstrated expertise through professional roles.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum.
• Hold weekly office hours based on assigned teaching load.
• Teach courses that may be scheduled in late afternoons, evenings, or weekends.
• Participate in department planning meetings.
• Adhere to the course time frame and schedule.

Requirements

• A master’s degree in Educational Leadership or a related discipline is required for teaching in the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential and Master of Science in Educational Leadership programs.
• A doctoral degree in Educational Leadership or a related discipline, along with a record of exemplary professional leadership roles, is required for teaching in the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program.

Preferred Qualifications

• An EdD or PhD in Educational Leadership or a related discipline for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential and Master of Science in Educational Leadership programs.
• Prior teaching experience at the college or university level, with evidence of strong teaching.
• Prior successful work experience in educational leadership.

Pay

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank, with an anticipated hiring range not to exceed $6,221 per month (prorated based on units worked). As of July 2024, the monthly salary ranges are:

• Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677
• Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224
• Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523
• Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211
