Lecturer 1 - Chemistry

Boise State University’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry seeks a full-time Lecturer to join its instructional team. The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester, primarily freshman and sophomore courses such as general chemistry, with the possibility of upper-division courses aligned with departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise. Summer teaching opportunities may be available for additional compensation.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry. Its vision is to “Promote student success through excellence in chemistry” by providing exceptional student research experiences, a curriculum focused on critical-thinking skills, independent research, instrumentation training, and scientific writing. As a Carnegie-classified R2 institution, the department is dedicated to high-impact research in areas such as drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, cosmochemistry, computational chemistry, enzymology, and polymer chemistry. Requirements

• Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry education, science education, or a closely related field.
• Candidates with a graduate degree in an education-related field must also hold a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biochemistry.

Preferred qualifications

• Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry education, science education, or a closely related field.
• Experience teaching general chemistry.
• Experience developing and teaching online chemistry courses.
• Experience using evidence-based instructional practices.
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate student success.
• Experience using modern laboratory instrumentation or technology-enhanced teaching methods.

Pay

Salary ranges from $56,000 to $61,000, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Standard faculty contract is 9 months, with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. This is a yearly, renewable contract.
