About the role
This role manages full cycle leave of absence cases via ServiceNow and Workday for the United States and Canada. The case load averages 150+ cases per specialist, who handles the entire process from intake to approval.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the leave of absence process company-wide
- Perform individualized leave assessments, resolve issues, and escalate cases as needed
- Monitor work queues and prioritize cases
- Manage extensive phone, email, and case management communications with employees and managers
- Process and approve leave transactions in Workday (requests, returns, modifications)
- Maintain information/documentation in case management system to track and ensure accurate and timely case management
- Provide counseling and coaching for managers and employees around taking leave, types of leave, and eligibility
- Identify areas for continuous improvement within internal operations, processes, etc.
- Maintain deep expertise and specialized knowledge of legal and statutory policies around leaves of absences
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of federal and state absence laws and regulations
- Organizational and analytical skills
- Written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, and HR teams
- Confidentiality and sensitivity to handling personal information
- Timely and organized work habits
- Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of federal and state absence laws and regulations
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with Workday and/or Service Now
- Experience working in case management and HRIS systems (Service Now, Workday, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience in Human Resources or related field
- Three (3) years or more HR generalist or HR compliance role (e.g. leave of absence, ADA, Employee Relations) required
- Three (3) years or more Demonstrated experience facilitating leave of absence processes including coaching/consulting others required
- Three (3) years or more Experience in interpreting and ensuring human resources regulatory compliance required
- One (1) year or more Experience in high volume, complex case management required
Qualifications
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification
