About the role

Briarcliff Middle School in the Mountain Lakes School District is seeking a temporary substitute teacher for the period from October 21, 2026 to February 25, 2027. The position will focus on Language Arts for 6th grade students.

Responsibilities

• Teach Language Arts to 6th grade students
• Instruct according to the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Elementary K-6 Certification (with Middle School (5-8) English certification preferred)
• Utilize teaching experience in English or K-12 English teaching as a preference

Requirements

• New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Elementary K-6 Certification (with Middle School (5-8) English certification preferred)
• K-12 English Teaching Experience Preferred

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of language arts curriculum
• Ability to adapt to a new school environment quickly
• Effective communication skills

Skills

• Excellent classroom management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff
• Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes

Pay

The salary is based on the MLEA (Mountain Lakes Education Association) Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Schedule

The schedule will be determined based on the needs of the school and the availability of the substitute teacher.
