About the role

The Business Development Manager supports truck sales and market activity to promote sales of trucks and Allegiance products and services, enabling the development of long-term, sustainable customer partnerships. This position is responsible for sales support, truck specifications, processing purchase orders, invoice processing and reconciliation, and providing quotes to internal personnel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with lease and rental sales team to generate sales growth in all ATL regions.
  • Work with sales team and customers on truck specifications, pricing, and inventory management.
  • Monitor and track all new equipment orders including add-on: bodies, liftgates, reefers, and other upfitting items.
  • Serve as a liaison with the truck OEM’s and other major suppliers.
  • Ensure equipment is processed from equipment orders to the in-service of the asset including all accounting and internal processes.
  • Develop an understanding of each customer in the assigned Area(s) and support sales goals and business objectives.
  • Support daily needs of sales personnel and assigned accounts to leverage Allegiance offerings.
  • Proactively manage the entire sales process and all corresponding communication and required documentation.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on truck OEM’s ordering systems and provide training to CRM as needed.
  • Maintain complete understanding of published sales and product bulletins distributing information regarding OEM truck sales programs and campaigns.
  • Verify new truck pricing and SPA’s using Idealease Corporation’s current price lists and related information.
  • Closely track, coordinate, and communicate the logistics of orders placed and deliveries to assigned accounts.
  • Track backlog to ensure deliveries meet customer expectations.
  • Analyze truck inventory to monitor days in inventory to minimize flooring costs and non-movement; make recommendations to management on improving truck inventory turns.
  • Participate in developing and executing strategic account plans for sales to achieve goals.
  • Provide market analysis and monitor market penetration (Polk / Rig Dig data) based on truck registrations; make recommendations on opportunities to improve market penetration and generate sales prospects.
  • Work with major component suppliers on special programs, offerings, and marketing funds.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Allegiance leadership.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required. College degree in Business preferred. Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience with heavy duty trucks in a dealership, fleet, fleet maintenance, or similar environment.
  • Previous heavy duty truck sales or product support work experience is preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of truck OEM specifications, products, and marketing techniques.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Analytical approach that asks the right questions to understand the real issues.
  • Ability to deal effectively, listen, and communicate with all customers and co-workers.
  • Basic accounting procedures and skills in computer operation; Navistar applications, MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and CDL with minimum of a Class B (recommended) with air brake endorsement.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

The position is located in the office and shop environment, as well as duties performed outside. Mobility of walking, standing, and bending is frequent. Dexterity, hearing, and talking requirements are constant. Visual ability to detect situations of concern is constant. The employee will occasionally lift up to and over 50 pounds. Must be able to meet the public and make decisions. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, and dirt. Travel may be required.
