Lease Operator I

About the role

Join Wood as a Lease Operator based in Sheridan, Wyoming, working on the Carbon Creek Energy project in the Powder River Basin. Wood provides comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision plans, a 401(k), paid time off, life insurance, and more.

Responsibilities

• Monitor control panels to ensure materials are being pumped at the correct parameters.
• Operate engines and pumps to shut off wells according to production schedules and switch flow into storage tanks.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Unload and assemble pipes and pumping equipment using hand tools.
• Attach pumps and hoses to wellheads.
• Start compressor engines and divert oil from storage tanks into compressor units and auxiliary equipment to recover natural gas from oil.
• Open valves to return compressed gas to bottoms of specified wells to re-pressurize them and force oil to surface.
• Supervise oil pumpers and other workers engaged in producing oil from wells.

Qualifications

• Always wear appropriate PPE (FRC, hard hat, steel-toed shoes/boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection).
• Drive safely, always wear a seatbelt, and do not use phones while operating a vehicle.
• Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures when opening any piping or working on equipment, including electronics.
• Implement call-out procedures when on call.
• Ensure contract workers in your area are wearing PPE and working in a safe manner.
• Implement stop work authority as needed.
• Report environmental spills and erosion immediately.
• Routinely check and maintain all mechanical equipment (ATVs, water pumps, maxi heaters, etc.).

Skills

• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to understand gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment is working properly.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.
• Identify and fix most issues with limited or no direction.
