About the role

As a Learning Writer, you will be responsible for documenting various procedures and creating training materials to educate personnel on those procedures. You will work alongside other Learning Writers, Training Specialists, and Operations members at Collectors to learn the best practices of each department and clearly document them for incoming personnel and other departments. This role reports to the Learning Manager in Santa Ana, CA and will be based onsite Monday - Friday in the Santa Ana office in CA. This position has the potential to travel as the company grows.

Onsite Requirement

This role requires you to be onsite in the office 5 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a motivated team to document and help standardize processes and create training materials such as Process Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), presentation decks, and video modules
  • Assist the Learning Writers, Learning Specialists, and Learning Manager in researching and installing new training materials and tools that will enhance our training procedures and provide value to our workers
  • Collaborate closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across many areas of the business to ensure processes are captured correctly, receiving and providing considerable feedback
  • Assist with maintaining the Learning Resource Site, the departmental shared drive, and project management boards, keeping them up to date with changes/improvements
  • Determine gaps in training material or content that should be filled to ensure safety and productivity among staff members
  • Identify future training needs and create a curriculum, with the Learning Manager’s assistance, to facilitate training
  • Be creative and design better ways to present information clearly using text, images, audio, and video to ensure better training outcomes in accordance with the company style guide and consistent voice
  • Proofread, format, and edit new and existing documents and presentations

Qualifications

  • B.S. or B.A. preferred; 1 or 2 years of experience in documenting processes preferred
  • Excellent listener and communicator, good interpersonal skills, adaptable, conflict resolution, and maintains an open mind
  • Excellent attention to detail, comprehensive documenting skills, and ability to organize digital content
  • Strong writing skills and excellent English grammar and prose
  • Strong computer skills (typing and Google applications)
  • Able to change priorities to meet deadlines, plan, multi-task, and manage time effectively
  • Innovative and creative: you find resourceful solutions for complex problems
  • Willing to learn, teach, ask open and probing questions, and improve
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with formal writing or translating in additional languages is a plus

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $23.50-$28. Actual compensation in this range will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, prior experience, and skill set. This role may be eligible for bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation.
