Qualifications And Requirements
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- New Jersey permanent Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant certificate.
- Strong background and knowledge of NJAC 6A:
Basic Functions And Responsibilities
- Evaluates identified students using standardized assessments and student observations in order to determine appropriate program placement and academic supports.
- Participates in CST meetings to determine the need for eligibility, programs and the development of an Individualized Educational Program (IEP).
- Adheres to State and Federal regulations and established departmental procedures.
- Consults with school staff, students and families to disseminate information and plan programs.
- Maintains contact with school administrators and outside agencies.
- Makes progress reports on managed students.
- Fosters positive relationships with other CST staff, teachers, students, parents and administrators.
- Maintains accurate statistical data related to productivity and case responsibilities.
- Uses computer technology proficiently.
- Observes and conducts informal screenings to assess academic functioning, learning characteristics and appropriate strategies for students with disabilities.
- Supports principals, teachers, teacher assistants and resource teachers in planning strategies, adapting teaching practices and making modifications.
- Plans and implements professional development workshops/training for staff.

SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT PERIOD
- Salary Range: $67,000 - $111,625
- Employment Period: Ten (10) Month
- Affiliation: Newark Teachers Union (NTU)
