Learning Design Coordinator
About the role
The Learning Design Coordinator is an important member of the team that produces the Museum’s educational and public programs. The role involves developing, facilitating, and leading museum education programs for diverse audiences, including drop-in activities, student workshops, gallery experiences for adults and families, and support for the teen program.
The Coordinator will create new educational programming aligned with best practices and museum goals, applying formal or informal teaching experience to engage middle and high school students, adults, and general visitors in the Museum’s classroom and maker space.
Responsibilities
- Develop, facilitate, and lead educational programs for visitors of all ages.
- Teach student workshops and facilitate gallery experiences for adults and families.
- Support and contribute to the Museum’s teen program.
- Design new educational programming in accordance with best practices and museum goals.
- Apply teaching experience to engage with middle and high school students, adults, and general visitors.
- Ensure programming aligns with accessibility best practices and serves a variety of audiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) field.
- Minimum of two years of experience teaching middle or high school students in a formal or informal setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to equitable access to STEAM for all.
- Experience with curriculum design and development.
- Familiarity with K-12 education and standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with MIT faculty, staff, students, visitors of all ages, and youth volunteers.
- Excellent attention to detail while prioritizing safety, educational engagement, and service.
Schedule
This position requires a schedule that regularly includes one weekend day (e.g., Tuesday–Saturday or Sunday–Monday) and occasional evenings and holidays.
