Learning Coach, GT School - $100,000/year USD

Crossover · Georgetown, TX · Today
Education$50/hrFull-time

Traditional schools typically ask, "What should a six-year-old know?" At gt.school, we ask a different question: "What is this six-year-old capable of?" Gifted students at gt.school don't sit idle while the curriculum catches up to them. They advance as rapidly as they're prepared to learn, completing years of academic material via AI-driven instruction while dedicating the remainder of their day to building the confidence, communication skills, resilience, and leadership qualities that match their intellectual capacity.

About the Role

Your responsibility isn't to deliver traditional lessons. It's to guide exceptional young learners in forming the habits and character traits that allow extraordinary ability to thrive. You will oversee a single K-3 cohort band—either Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd grade. Approximately half of your time will be devoted to facilitating dynamic workshops focused on life skills including public speaking, concentration, receiving feedback, and leadership development. The remaining half involves coaching students individually and in small groups, leveraging learning analytics to ensure each child advances toward demanding weekly objectives.

Many of these students would not yet be designated as gifted in conventional school settings. They simply require an environment that declines to impose limits on their potential. Families select gt.school not because their children require remediation. They choose it because their children require greater intellectual challenge. They seek adults who exemplify curiosity, self-discipline, and a genuine passion for learning. For this reason, every coach at gt.school possesses a demonstrated history of exceptional academic performance. Your achievements aren't merely credentials on paper—they serve as evidence that you've personally experienced the fulfillment of striving for excellence and can motivate children to pursue the same.

This is a full-time, on-site position located at gt.school's Georgetown, Texas campus, just outside Austin. Relocation support is provided for outstanding candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate dynamic life-skills workshops designed to help gifted K-3 students cultivate communication abilities, concentration, leadership qualities, resilience, and other enduring competencies through active engagement rather than passive instruction.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group coaching to students, utilizing Coachbot analytics, established motivation frameworks, and meaningful relationships to ensure each student makes consistent progress toward challenging weekly learning objectives.
  • Evaluate life-skill proficiency using gt.school's Test2Pass methodology, guiding students until they exhibit authentic comprehension and reliable application.
  • Tailor your coaching approach to match the developmental characteristics of your cohort, blending imagination and energy with exceptionally ambitious expectations for young learners' capabilities.
  • Cultivate relationships that motivate gifted students to tackle demanding tasks, persevere through obstacles, and build the character that complements their intellectual strengths.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Teaching academic content from the front of the classroom. Students complete core academic subjects using adaptive, AI-driven software platforms.
  • Constraining gifted students to conventional grade-level standards.
  • Developing curriculum materials from the ground up. You will customize established playbooks rather than design lessons from nothing.
  • Simply monitoring students during independent work sessions. Your contribution stems from coaching, inspiring, and nurturing each individual child.
  • Reducing expectations when students face significant challenges. You will support students in meeting ambitious targets rather than diminishing standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree accompanied by a documented record of exceptional academic achievement.
  • A demonstrated history of superior academic performance, evidenced through achievements such as acceptance to a highly selective university, outstanding grades, distinguished academic honors, advanced coursework, competitive scholarships, academic competitions, or equivalent accomplishments.
  • A minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with children ages 4-9 in teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp settings, youth programs, or comparable contexts.
  • A concrete example of successfully motivating a young child to reach a demanding goal, detailing the objective, your methodology, and the result.
  • Comfort working with AI-powered learning tools while dedicating your primary efforts to coaching, motivation, and life-skill cultivation.
  • The capacity to combine genuine warmth with consistently high expectations for all students.
  • Availability to work full-time on-site at the Georgetown, Texas location.
  • Legal authorization for employment in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background working with gifted, accelerated, or exceptionally advanced students.
  • Experience in youth athletics, children's theater, camp leadership roles, Montessori settings, progressive education models, or highly engaging enrichment initiatives.
  • Exceptional storytelling or presentation abilities that naturally captivate young children.
  • A proven record of supporting highly capable children in surpassing their perceived limitations.
