About the Role

When a child faces difficulty, most elementary schools reduce expectations. You do the opposite. You know that six-year-olds are capable of significantly more than conventional classrooms demand, and you have used measurable outcomes to demonstrate this repeatedly. Alpha operates on a two-hour learning framework. Adaptive technology handles academic instruction each morning, freeing your schedule for the work that truly transforms young lives: motivation, life skills development, coaching, and accountability. You directly lead a cohort of K-3 students while coaching the Guides—Alpha's term for the adults who mentor and inspire children—who manage their day-to-day growth. You remain actively involved every day rather than overseeing from a removed office.

Your typical day revolves around three core activities. You analyze performance metrics and Coachbot analytics to identify which students and Guides need support. You conduct coaching sessions that equip people with concrete next actions rather than ambiguous encouragement. And you command the focus of a room filled with five- to nine-year-olds during workshops on subjects like public speaking, concentration, or feedback exchange. When you identify effective practices, you document them. The frameworks you create set the benchmark that every other Guide follows, extending your influence from a single cohort to the entire grade level. What You Will Be Doing

• Coaching both Guides and students through performance metrics, classroom observation, and clear feedback, then ensuring both groups meet measurable objectives
• Leading one-hour live workshops for K-3 students focused on life skills including public speaking, concentration, teamwork, resilience, accountability, and feedback processes
• Conducting individual and small-group sessions that link each child's personal goals and interests to tangible academic advancement
• Creating and improving playbooks that convert your proven methods into repeatable frameworks other Guides can implement reliably
• Training Guides on these playbooks and demonstrating excellence in facilitation to maintain standards as the team expands

What You Won't Be Doing

• Providing academic instruction or lecturing from the front of the classroom; adaptive technology teaches content while you coach people
• Reducing expectations when students encounter challenges
• Managing from a distance as instructional coaches and principals typically do; you remain integrated with your cohort every day
• Managing the full campus budget, operations, and parent communications; a Campus Lead handles those responsibilities so you can concentrate on student and Guide performance
• Advocating for traditional teaching approaches or adhering to a standard K-12 curriculum

Learning Center Director Key Responsibilities

Basic Requirements

• Available to work on-site at an Alpha campus in New York City, NY; Miami, FL; or San Francisco, CA; relocation assistance is available
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, Child Development, or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience working with elementary-aged children (approximately ages 5 to 9)
• Demonstrated leadership of a team of 5 or more individuals, with hiring and termination authority based on performance results
• Proven experience establishing, launching, or substantially expanding a program, team, school, or initiative from inception, rather than managing an established operation
• Willing to work in an educational environment that rejects conventional teaching methods
• Legal authorization to work in the United States

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Master's degree in a relevant discipline
• Demonstrated history of leveraging metrics, dashboards, or analytics to identify issues and produce measurable improvements
• Experience developing or managing other adults to achieve measurable results, beyond personal execution
• Experience in youth development, camp leadership, competitive coaching, tutoring, or enrichment programs where motivation played a central role
• Proficiency and confidence facilitating sessions or speaking publicly to groups of young children
