Leadership Gift Officer

About the role

The Leadership Gift Officer will serve as a lead front-line fundraiser on the 48-member Development Team, responsible for the Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) area. The selected candidate must reside within the assigned geographic region.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Assistant Director of Major and Leadership Gifts and solicit leadership gifts (at least five-figures) from alumni and non-alumni friends
• Maintain relationships with 150 prospects and donors with the capacity to make annual gifts at $10,000 and higher
• Manage all phases of the gift cycle (identifying, qualifying and evaluating, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding) with key members of the West Point community
• Work closely and collaboratively with other development team members, volunteer alumni leaders, and natural partners engaged in cultivation and solicitation efforts
• Become fully versed in the funding needs of the Academy and WPAOG and energetically advocate for those priorities
• Offer the range of gift vehicles available to donors, including planned giving vehicles whenever appropriate
• Solicit Annual and Class Gifts from managed prospects when appropriate

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degrees a plus
• Three to five years of experience in fundraising strongly preferred
• Familiarity with USMA and the Army strongly preferred
• Must reside within the DMV geographic region
• Willing and able to travel extensively (40%-50% of time) to meet prospects and donors
• Available for occasional weekend duty as required

Pay

Salary range: $74,000 - $76,000 depending on skills and experience.
