About the role

Our school is comprised of 4 distinct campuses: a girls’ only campus (7–12) in a state-of-the-art purpose-built facility, a middle campus (7–9), a senior campus (10–12), and a special education campus (7–12), organised in Learning Communities co-located on one school site. The school caters for 1700+ students.

RMSC is a world-class IB World School currently delivering the IB Middle Years Programme for students in years 7–10 and is one of five public schools to offer the IB Diploma. We are seeking a dynamic Director of Curriculum – English and Literacy. Part-time and flexible arrangements will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and review of the English and Literacy curriculum across the school.
  • Drive whole-school literacy improvement aligned with IB programme standards and school strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate and support teachers in embedding evidence-based literacy practices in Years 7–12.
  • Monitor student progress and analyse data to inform curriculum adjustments and targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate with IB coordinators and Learning Community leaders to ensure alignment with MYP and DP frameworks.
  • Oversee assessment design, moderation, and reporting for English and Literacy.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional learning in literacy pedagogy.
  • Engage with families and community stakeholders to support student literacy development.

Requirements

  • Relevant teaching qualification and current teacher registration in South Australia.
  • Substantial experience teaching English and/or Literacy in secondary settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership in curriculum development and teacher professional learning.
  • Strong understanding of IB programme frameworks (MYP and/or DP) and literacy across the disciplines.
  • Experience using data to drive instructional decisions and monitor student growth.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively across multiple campuses and Learning Communities.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $136,872 per annum (FTE) under Teacher Conditions.

Schedule

  • Tenure: 21 January 2027 to 23 January 2029.
  • Fraction of time: 1.0 (part-time and flexible arrangements considered).
