About the Role
Join Pick Your Part, a leader in used auto parts, where hardworking individuals enjoy hands-on work and help keep customers on the road. This role involves outdoor work in the yard, removing parts from cars, and serving in a lead capacity by reviewing work, allocating resources, and providing solutions to staff issues.
Responsibilities
- Serve in a lead capacity by reviewing work, accepting special assignments, and solving routine issues.
- Operate a forklift or loader to assist in moving cars from processing to the yard.
- Clean out debris from cars before they go into the processing area.
- Pull out batteries to be tested and resold; bring charged batteries to the retail area.
- Work with the Loader Operator to properly stage or pull cars in the yard.
- Walk the yard and place debris in the cars being removed from the yard.
- Dismantle tires.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Ensure all EPA and OSHA regulations are being met.
- Wear all required PPE and comply with company policies and procedures.
- Support the continual improvement of LKQ’s quality improvement system.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Lead the work of others performing similar tasks.
- Set priorities, schedule, and review work (no hiring, termination, performance review, or pay decision authority).
Requirements
- 3+ years of related experience; fully competent in job requirements with in-depth knowledge.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Skills
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Proficiency in computing rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting graphs.
- Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create and maintain documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Moderately complex oral and written communication skills; may train others or present to management.
- Ability to solve routine, somewhat repetitive problems by following clear directions.
- Handle multiple tasks or projects of moderate complexity simultaneously.
- Set personal goals and determine how to achieve results with minimal guidelines.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.
- May be exposed to hazardous situations, cramped spaces, or awkward positions under vehicles.
- Regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
- Periodic travel, including overnight stays, may be required.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
