About the role
The Lead Yard Associate oversees yard operations, trains employees, and maintains a safe, efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an orderly and organized yard.
- Ensure security and control of materials entering and leaving the yard.
- Maintain knowledge of products stored in the yard.
- Follow and enforce all safety procedures.
- Inspect equipment, loads, and material handling practices to ensure a safe work environment.
- Maintain product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
- Resolve customer concerns, including complaints and warranty issues.
- Provide daily work direction and assign tasks effectively.
- Monitor performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Train employees on loading, unloading, delivery procedures, and safe work practices.
- Reinforce customer service standards and company procedures.
- Aid in performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Supervise and train drivers on safe driving and delivery practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One or more years of yard, warehouse, or related experience preferred.
- Forklift certification required.
- Valid CDL license preferred.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to assess situations, prioritize tasks, and make timely, sound decisions.
- Ability to recommend improvements that support business objectives.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Ability to safely operate equipment such as forklifts, trucks, and other yard machinery.
- Knowledge of building materials and related procedures.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
