About the role

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, evolve, and execute the editorial voice and content frameworks for Google Research across primary external and internal channels.
  • Oversee the end-to-end editorial calendar, including the implementation of listening systems to identify and inform the editorial pipeline in advance of formal project submissions.
  • Prioritize, curate, and greenlight stories that maximize impact across both technical expert communities and mainstream public audiences.
  • Partner closely with Researchers, Product Managers, and cross-functional teams (Marketing, Comms, Legal, GAPP, Partnerships) to ensure scientific accuracy, regulatory compliance, and message alignment.
  • Provide structural and line editing for content drafts written by others, managing Q&A for all write-ups, while actively coaching others to elevate their storytelling.
  • Manage the tactical execution pipeline for your assigned pieces—proactively driving research teams and executives to provide timely inputs, clear feedback, and final sign-offs to meet publication deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program or project management.
  • 8 years of experience managing technology, scientific, or research publications, blogs, or journalistic outlets.

Qualifications

  • Ability to operate from first principles, building cohesive narratives even when inputs are highly ambiguous, incomplete, or deeply technical.
  • Proven track record as an Individual Contributor.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional technical teams, manage stakeholders, and drive project alignment.
  • Prominent interest in coaching and mentoring other content creators and subject matter experts to improve their craft.
  • Comfort navigating fluid environments, tight deadlines, and the changing nature of this role.

Skills

  • Expertise in writing and editing technical and scientific content.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
