Lead Weapons Mechanic - CBA - Global Strike

Responsibilities

• Direct/Perform cleaning and corrosion treatment on gun system, flare components.
• Direct/Remove and replace aircraft installed weapons systems components and equipment.
• Direct/Remove and install guns, flares.
• Direct/Perform flightline functions including preflight and postflight weapons requirements to include guard duties as directed.
• Document all inspection and maintenance actions in aircraft forms and IMDS.
• Conduct personnel evaluations and task certifications.
• Follow established armory and maintenance room security procedures.
• Comply with flightline munitions accountability requirements IAW AFI 21-201.
• Conduct weapons academy training IAW AFI 21-101 for Weapons Mechanics as needed.
• Provide technical advice and assistance to weapons maintenance personnel and others.
• Perform Red X and IPI inspections.
• Direct other mechanics within his/her span of control.
• Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
• Maintain hangar and grounds IAW Company and PWS requirements to include snow and weed removal.
• Operate Ground Support Equipment.
• Participate in FOD walks.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
• Supply technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as schematics or manufacturers’ specifications.
• Perform basic helicopter ground handling procedures such as towing, jacking, refuel/defuel as needed.
• Willing to travel on occasion.
• Maintain weapons qualifications and munitions handling certifications as applicable.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

• Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
• Climbing - Ascending or descending using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized (onto or off of helicopter).
• Handling - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand (required for numerous tasks).
• Exposure to weather - Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather (while conducting exterior ramp operations).
• Noise - Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds or a pitch or level sufficient to cause marked distraction or possible hearing loss (while conducting exterior ramp operations).

Working Environment

Ability to move about both inside aircraft hangar and outside on aircraft ramp within close proximity of running equipment and aircraft.

Skills & Technology Used

• Must possess knowledge and experience in technical, safety, and environmental issues involving Weapons maintenance.
• Must possess a comprehensive understanding of Weapons technical procedures.
• Extensive knowledge of Weapons maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, technical publications, special tools, test equipment, and safety procedures required.
• Weapons qualifications and munitions handling certifications as applicable.
• Working knowledge of IMDS and other computer programs.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• USAF or equivalent Weapons formal military training required.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level security clearance.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.

Experience:

• Recent experience at the craftsman level (7 level) (or equivalent) as a Weapons/Armament specialist (5 years within the last 7 years).
• Must possess a comprehensive understanding of Weapons technical procedures.

Pay

The current CBA rate for this position/location is $53.90/hr. and is NOT negotiable.
