Lead, Warehouse (Day Shift)

About the Role

Responsible for monitoring the overall process and serving as a valued resource for Shipping/Receiving Clerks to assist in troubleshooting, ensuring unforeseen process events are addressed with urgency. This role works closely with the Warehouse Supervisor and Shipping/Receiving Clerks to ensure daily and weekly tasks are completed on-time and according to standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Functions
    • Ensure continuous operation of warehouse equipment through active operator management, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
    • Audit Clerks' performance to ensure quality inspection of incoming and outgoing shipments per SOPs.
    • Audit documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance of inbound paperwork.
  • Logistical Functions
    • Complete daily and weekly tasks using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure sustained and repeatable quality and performance.
    • Fill in for Shipping and Receiving Clerks and/or Warehouse Supervisors during vacations or absences.
    • Ensure cross-training of team members, maximize resource use, and maintain overall team competency.
    • Ensure PIT inspections are conducted daily and correctly by all operators.
  • Team & Leadership Functions
    • Lead by example and drive all Plant and Safety policies, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
    • Ensure team members are accountable to the same standards.
    • Actively mentor and coach Shipping and Receiving Clerks on safety, quality, productivity, continuous improvement, and team harmony.
    • Effectively communicate job knowledge and process changes through daily communication (shift handover meetings, production meetings, email, action logs, work orders).
    • Escalate safety, equipment, and personnel issues for immediate resolution.
    • Review and execute team trainings as assigned in the weekly training roster.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in leadership roles in a warehouse environment.
  • Forklift experience (certification not required).
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including MS Office, Teams, and email.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced and constantly changing work environment.
  • Shift work including days, evenings, overnight shifts, and up to 12 hours.
  • Overtime including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand/move 8-12 hours per day.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs/ladders throughout shift.
  • Ability to work outdoors occasionally, exposed to outside conditions for short periods.
  • Ability to work around moving vehicles/robots.
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination, including manual dexterity.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including bump cap, safety steel-toe shoes, and safety glasses.
  • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
