About the Role

This role creates content and is involved in all aspects of the video production process, including planning, creating/shooting, processing, uploading, and editing for a wide variety of distribution channels. The incumbent works collaboratively with art directors, writers, and editors to create innovative, compelling, creative content. Responsibilities include maintaining consistent quality, staying current with technologies, establishing best practices for the team, and mentoring other production specialists. This is a hybrid-based role in Pittsburgh, PA, with onsite requirements depending on daily duties.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all levels of production, including pre-production, setup, filming, and tear down.
  • Maintain contact with producers and post-production teams to ensure deadlines are established and met.
  • Provide on-set direction as project demands.
  • Edit video content.
  • Drive the production-to-post handoff process, including offloading and cataloging clips and sharing notes with producers.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other staff.
  • Offer equipment expertise and videography guidance in shooting, lighting, sound recording, teleprompting, and operation of production equipment, as well as creative idea sharing.
  • Maintain, inventory, and update equipment, including lighting, lenses, cameras, rigs, and audio tools.
  • Consult on work quality and best practices, offering and receiving constructive criticism to raise the team's creative standards.
  • Lead file-sharing processes and systems integration, with full knowledge and oversight of the EditShare digital asset management system.
  • Document procedures to standardize operations.
  • Collaborate with team members, creative teams, and multimedia departments to provide pre-production and set recommendations.
  • Advise on improvements for team production methods and technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia/Multimedia Tech or a related field, or 6 years of progressive, related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 7 years of experience working in video/media production and post-production.
  • 5 years of knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animation and Special Effects or Visual Communication.
  • Motion Graphics certification.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of production processes, workflows, and software, including Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe Premiere).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) and color correction software such as DaVinci Resolve.
  • Strong organizational skills and working knowledge of project management software (e.g., Workfront).
  • Ability to collaborate with remote team members and customers via electronic communication (Zoom, Teams, MS365, Skype).
  • Ability to deliver polished assets tailored to intended platforms (social media, web, etc.).
  • Capability to film and edit independently and work with freelancers on larger projects.

Physical, Mental Demands, and Working Conditions

  • Office-based position with regular teaching/training of others.
  • Frequent travel between the office and various work sites or site-to-site.
  • Physical work site required.
  • Constant lifting of up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting of 10 to 25 pounds.
  • Rare lifting of 25 to 50 pounds.
