Clean Harbors North Las Vegas is seeking a Lead Diesel Mechanic to oversee shop operations, ensure DOT compliance, and maintain service and parts records for the company fleet.
About the role
Health and Safety is our #1 priority. This position involves supervising maintenance work, performing preventative maintenance, conducting inspections, troubleshooting, and ensuring all equipment meets provincial and federal safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs, including offsite road repairs and service calls.
- Complete daily checklists for proper operation of units and report any issues immediately.
- Maintain daily maintenance duties and communicate problems or issues with units upon discovery.
- Complete and submit all associated paperwork for tracking preventative maintenance schedules.
- Conduct Safety Checks and Annual Vehicle Inspections in accordance with provincial and federal laws.
- Ensure equipment is properly parked in compliance with facility permits and DOT requirements.
- Maintain a clean work environment and ensure work meets all applicable Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures.
- Perform other assignments as directed by management.
- Understand and adhere to Clean Compliance Standards.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of diesel engine experience.
- 1+ years of DOT inspection experience.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Proficiency in electrical, computer, ECMs, fuel, air systems, ABS, hydraulic systems, and engines.
- Complete proficiency in diagnostic, repair, and maintenance of heavy-duty forklifts, roll-off trucks, forklifts, pickup trucks, box trucks, tractors, and tankers.
- Proficiency in tooling and equipment diagnostic, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and physical test upon hire.
