Lead Van Driver

B2B shuttle role transporting drivers to local car dealerships and auto auctions. No product or food delivery; no special licensing required. Must be able to lift vehicle hoods and up to 15 lbs of fuel or a jump box. Ideal for retirees who enjoy consistent local routes, team leadership, and using simple smartphone apps for car finding and scanning.

About the role

The Lead Van Driver is the key touchpoint between Roadrunner Services and the 8–10 drivers riding in the van each day, as well as the primary field communicator to Dispatch. Responsibilities include daily van inspections, maintenance logs, requesting repairs, fueling the van with a company card, and securing the van and company assets each afternoon. The Lead Van Driver enforces safe driving practices, professional conduct, and van cleanliness, while coordinating monthly van detailing with the location Manager or Dispatcher.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall behavior and safety of passengers in the van.
• Ensure all drivers use apps to locate vehicles and the Roadmap App to scan them.
• Coordinate efficient daily routes with the Roadrunner Manager and Dispatch.
• Conduct visual van inspections, check fluids, remove ice/snow, and schedule monthly detailing or more frequently if needed.
• Communicate promptly with the Location Manager via hands-free calls or talk-to-text regarding stop outcomes, obstacles, ETA updates, and any behavioral or safety issues requiring disciplinary action.
• Encourage drivers to be polite, courteous, and careful with customer vehicles.
• Motivate and hold drivers accountable for productivity and efficiency.
• Address lag times due to excessive breaks or lack of effort, as well as reckless or unsafe driving.
• Ensure drivers sign in/out, return tags, leave the van clean and fueled, and secure fuel cards and vans in designated areas.
• Drive through the auction block on sale days.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements

• Ability to drive a passenger van and various passenger vehicles (no special license required).
• Leadership skills to command respect, inspire confidence, and represent Roadrunner Services professionally at auctions and dealerships.
• Sound decision-making and ability to use/train others on handheld devices for vehicle scanning and data entry.
• Physical ability to lift hoods, check fluids, change tires, refuel vehicles, and enter/exit the van repeatedly.
• Familiarity with the North Florida area is helpful.
• Willingness to train team members on vehicle walkaround inspections and fluid checks.
• Dependability and consistency in following daily routines.
• Valid driver’s license, clean motor vehicle record, and ability to pass a background check and drug test.
• Professional appearance and comfortable yet neat attire.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, approximately 40 hours per week.
