Lead Ultrasound Technician

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled ultrasound technician to lead a team of ultrasonographers providing in-home and in-office ultrasounds to concierge and hospital-at-home patients. This role initially involves performing approximately 10–20 studies per week while overseeing daily operations, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, and quality assessment (QA). The ideal candidate will have experience in a broad array of specialties, including general, small parts, vascular, and echocardiography, with musculoskeletal, breast, obstetrics, and/or transcranial experience as a bonus. This individual will also contribute to strategic and logistical planning as a key team member.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations in offices and patient homes.
  • Uses independent judgment to differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Applies cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate.
  • Synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, then communicates studies and findings to PACS systems and physicians.
  • Ensures patient safety, mental and physical comfort while in care.
  • Coordinates and manages the work schedule of a team of technicians.
  • Assists with daily business operations, including QA efforts.
  • Maintains a daily log of patients seen and completes exam billing forms.
  • Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and rapport with referring providers.
  • Provides occasional in-service educational presentations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent patient service, communication, leadership, and technical skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of anatomy and pathology.
  • Highly competent in general, small parts, vascular, and cardiac sonography.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.
  • Graduated from a CAAHEP-accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program (preferred).
  • Completed training at an AMA-approved school and meets registry requirements by ARRT and/or CRT.
  • Maintains a high standard of medical ethics.
  • Self-motivated to increase understanding and knowledge of the field.
  • Complies with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies).
  • Uses independent judgment to acquire optimal diagnostic information in each case.
  • Works efficiently and copes well with chaotic and emergency situations.

Lifting Requirements

  • Heavy lifting: up to 25 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, lift, and walk without restrictions.
