Lead Transmission Line Engineer
About the role
Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated Lead Transmission Line Engineer to join the Power Delivery & Renewable team. This senior Lead Technical position requires direct interface with clients and the Arcadis power delivery team, managing project management, project engineering, proposal management, and business development. The role ensures day-to-day client engagement, coordination, and project execution in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including Arcadis’s policies and procedures such as Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control.
The incumbent will coordinate the power delivery renewable energy team and perform hands-on Transmission (HVAC/HVDC) engineering, detail design, and studies for utility and developer clients in North America. Collaboration with other renewable energy teams (e.g., wind, solar, green H2) and Arcadis business units is essential. This position may involve up to 30% travel to client sites and customer meetings within North America and potentially internationally.
Responsibilities
- Support, develop, and deliver HV and EHV transmission line projects from 69kV up to 500kV.
- Independently perform engineering and detail design drawings, studies, analysis, plan and profile documents, prepare bidding documents and specifications, bills of materials, shop drawing review, procurement, and construction documents.
- Identify, evaluate, and support work with project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management.
- Coordinate closely with civil, structural, high-voltage electrical, telecommunications, and geotechnical engineers to develop complete Issue For Construction design packages.
- Act as Project Manager, Proposal Manager, Program Manager, Account Manager, and Technical Lead to support project and client services.
- Serve as a mentor to junior members of the team and conduct quality assurance/quality control on the work of other electrical engineers, designers, or technicians.
- Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors to support business development and project execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience within Transmission line projects from 69kV up to 500kV.
- Able to execute and deliver transmission line packages under minimal supervision.
- Proficient with PLS-CADD software (PLS-POLE or PLS TOWER is a plus).
- Ability to engineer and design HV and EHV transmission foundations, materials, plan and profiles, and construction packages.
- Design experience adhering to National Electrical Code, National Electric Safety Code, IEEE codes and standards, and county, city, and state codes, ordinances, and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- PE license.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $101,376 - $168,960. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
