About the role
The Lead Test Engineer will play a key role in the design, development and implementation of testing solutions and operations during the new product development process. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with project leadership while helping shape the future of manufacturing processes, automation, and testing technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of integrated systems that address manufacturing, testing, inspection, and assembly challenges
- Partner with business units, engineering teams, and product development groups to define requirements and deliver effective technical solutions
- Evaluate manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and test coverage
- Serve as a key engineering resource for new product development initiatives, helping determine testing and assembly requirements early in the product lifecycle
- Manage projects from concept through implementation, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and aligned with business objectives
- Design, validate, and deploy solutions involving controls, automation, functional testing, and manufacturing systems
- Research, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies that enhance manufacturing performance and product quality
- Analyze manufacturing and testing data to identify trends, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineers and technicians
- Communicate project status, recommendations, and results to leadership and key stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardize processes and drive consistency across manufacturing operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with 3+ years of experience working with control systems, automation, or integrated manufacturing systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, system controls, serial communications, and functional test systems
- Familiarity with LabVIEW, Python, C++, Visual Basic, PLCs, or similar programming technologies preferred
- Strong project management skills with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and complex initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical requirements and develop comprehensive solutions to manufacturing challenges
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills
