Lead Teller

About the role

A Lead Teller at Red River Employees Federal Credit Union performs all standard teller duties independently, trains and motivates less experienced tellers, and ensures adherence to credit union policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Process cash transactions, deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, and transfers for members following credit union operating procedures.
• Issue cashier’s checks, accept payments, and handle address changes.
• Cross-sell credit union services and assist members with inquiries about member services.
• Make informed decisions based on knowledge of credit union policies and procedures.
• Balance cash drawer daily and ensure the security of negotiables.
• Detect and prevent fraudulent activity by staying alert to warnings of fraud.
• Balance ATMs, post night deposits, verify vault currency, and manage cash shipments.
• Open new memberships and accounts, issue ATM cards, and reorder checks.
• Assist in balancing the cash dispenser as needed.
• Motivate, coach, and train other tellers.
• Adhere to all credit union policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Three or more years of teller experience with a financial institution.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Competent computer skills and proficiency with standard office equipment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage professionally with members.
• Neat and professional appearance.
• Ability to lift heavy bags of coin, stand for long periods, and operate teller equipment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
