Lead Technician II

Pay Range: $24.76 - $30.39 hourly (DOE)

The Lead Technician II leads a team of technicians through each phase of mitigation and/or environmental projects from initial stage to completion, reporting directly to the Supervisor and potentially co-managed by the Project Manager and/or Branch Manager.
Responsibilities
- Maintain regular communications with key stakeholders (Branch Manager, Operations Manager, Project Manager, Supervisor, Project Coordinator) regarding project schedules, scope changes, materials, and personnel to ensure smooth project completion.
- Perform and/or direct staff to perform tasks expediting job completion, including ordering materials, moving client contents, and performing repairs adhering to code regulations and industry standards.
- Lead a group of 3 or more technicians, providing supervision and direction based on defined job parameters.
- Supervise multiple job types daily, ranging from simple to complex large-loss projects.
- Ensure the team delivers the best customer experience, making or recommending adjustments to serve the client and company’s best interests.
- Maintain company-assigned vehicle and restock supplies as necessary.
- Complete and submit crew sheets and job notes at the end of each day.
- Serve as a role model in following and enforcing company policy and safety procedures.
- Assist in the development of technicians through mentoring, coaching, and providing feedback.
- Conduct jobsite safety briefings and provide training within scope of knowledge.
- Act as company Site Safety Representative, enforcing safety guidelines using industry standards and company policies.
- Complete timecards accurately and ensure crew members do the same.
- Submit completed work orders, including measurements, moisture readings, and detailed paperwork for billing.
- Maintain trade skills through regular training provided by the company.
- Build knowledge of company services, operations, and standard practices to support professional growth.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a lead technician role in construction, restoration, or mitigation fields, or equivalent experience as Lead Tech I.
- Valid Driver’s License (Class C) with a clean driving record; must be insurable.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to pass a respirator physical and obtain a respiratory fit exam.
- Industry certifications preferred; ability to pass medical exams if required for certification.
- Strong communication skills and excellent customer service abilities.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, verbal).
- Comfortable using software and applications to access and submit documents, forms, and reports.
- Ability to teach, mentor, and develop technicians through demonstration and feedback.
- Strong understanding of safety guidelines and their application in daily tasks.
- Completion of Site Safety Representative training.
- Thorough knowledge of company SOPs and adherence to guidelines.
- Expertise in using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs.
- Commitment to continuous growth, feedback application, and supporting others’ development.
- Ability to interpret basic to complex instructions, plans, and guidelines (e.g., Material Data Sheets, schematics, drawings).
Safety Requirements
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as gloves, masks, goggles, hard hats, and safety footwear.
- Successfully complete a pulmonary function test and respirator fit test.
- Potential exposure to physical hazards, including vibration, falls, extreme temperatures, and high noise levels.
- Handle exposure to chemicals (solvents, adhesives, paints, cleaning agents) with proper use and storage.
- Work may involve exposure to biological hazards, such as mold, bacteria, and pathogens.
- Complete mandatory safety training, including hazard communication, emergency response, and equipment handling.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, or injuries to supervisors immediately.
- Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures, including evacuation routes and contacts.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Perform tasks requiring walking, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, climbing, squatting, crawling, lifting above shoulder level, and twisting.
- Prolonged sitting or standing, with regular alternation between the two.
- Continuous repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, or arms (e.g., typing, data entry).
- Operate machinery and tools requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- Clear vision for close work, computer use, and eye-hand coordination.
Working Conditions
- Indoor office setting with standard equipment (computers, phones, printers) and regular meetings (in-person or virtual).
- Outdoor fieldwork at restoration sites (residential, commercial, or industrial properties) with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, or contaminants, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE use.
- Work after hours and weekends due to 24/7 business operations.
- Travel to and from job sites using company or personal vehicles; possibility of out-of-town trainings, meetings, or conferences.
