Responsibilities

• Customer Satisfaction:
  • Provides prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner.
  • Greets customers as they enter and thanks them as they leave.
  • Assists customers and offers suggestions or recommendations.
  • Rings up sales accurately on the cash register, handling money, checks, and other payment types.
  • Performs multi-function operations including fuel console, lottery machines, money order machine, and telecom transactions.
  • Reports to work on time and follows the dress and appearance code.
• Facility Condition:
  • Maintains store facility and equipment to company/brand standards through cleaning and general housekeeping.
  • Performs cleaning duties to maintain store cleanliness inside and out, including basic upkeep of all equipment.
  • Inspects store facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order.
  • Contacts maintenance for repairs as needed.
• Merchandising:
  • Completes build-to orders for purchasing merchandise.
  • Receives and verifies vendor deliveries.
  • Maintains adequate stock throughout the store and in counter areas; rotates stock properly.
  • Places advertising and pricing signage inside or outside the facility, including marquees, ceilings, walls, and windows.
• Sales Controls:
  • Controls merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses.
  • Assists in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits.
• Financial Controls:
  • Monitors shift sales, cash handling procedures, and other shift functions, including daily close-outs.
  • Notifies the Store Manager of any sales, cash, inventory, or operating discrepancies.
  • May receive and sign vendor deliveries, verifying quality and quantity of product.
  • Follows company/brand guidelines for product breakage or spoilage.
• Staffing Controls:
  • Supervises customer service representatives in the absence of the Store Assistant Manager.
  • Coaches and trains new employees on company/brand operating, conduct, and performance standards.
  • Monitors customer traffic and adjusts staffing to decrease waiting time; may reassign duties based on operational or disciplinary needs.
  • Assists with employee counseling and provides performance feedback.
  • May manage the fast food service area of the store.
  • Knows and implements the gasoline pricing strategy, changing prices correctly.
• Security Controls:
  • Reports incidents including employee or customer injuries, theft, property damage, or improper sanitation/waste disposal to the Store Manager.
  • Reports any unsafe, unlawful, or unethical conduct.
• Administrative:
  • Performs shift change duties such as counting the cash drawer, recording employee purchases, and completing end-of-shift reports.
  • Ensures accurate timekeeping records for all employees.
  • May take inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Attends job-related meetings, which may require irregular hours.
  • Provides regular and predictable onsite attendance.
  • Completes daily store reports and other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in retail sales preferred.
• Ability to work with equipment, tools, and materials listed.
• Ability to work scheduled shifts, including arriving on time.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) preferred.
• Ability to perform essential duties and physical functions described.
• Ability to work in the conditions described.

Physical Requirements

• Exposure to cold or warm temperature extremes, including occasional work in a walk-in cooler/freezer and outdoors.
• Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., stocking inventory).
• Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., replenishing fountain syrups).
• Grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for an entire shift; requires eye-hand coordination.
• Push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (e.g., using a hand-truck).
• Reach overhead for objects.
• Bend and twist at the waist.
• Communicate orally.
• Operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
• Stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
• Work alone.
• Exposure to occasional noise.
• Stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
• May require climbing a ladder to store/retrieve materials or place/remove signs.

Work Environment

• Performs approximately 95% of work indoors but may be required to clean parking lots, gas pumps, take out garbage, etc.
• Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while working in a walk-in cooler/freezer.
• Exposure to occasional noise.
• Works with minimum direction and periodic supervision.

Pay

$16.50 to $16.50 per hour
