Lead Teacher/ Infant Program Supervisor
About the role
The Children's Center at CU Boulder welcomes applications for the Lead Teacher/Infant Program Supervisor position! This role provides childcare for children of families affiliated with the University of Colorado including; faculty, staff, students, and alumni, in addition to families of the wider Boulder community. This position is situated in the CU Children’s Center and provides a nurturing and safe environment for a diverse population of children ages 6 weeks to age 8.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements lesson plans, teaching developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Serves by serving as a resource for Assistant Teachers, university student employees and volunteers.
- Trains Assistant Teachers, university student employees and volunteers.
- Directs information for evaluation of students employees, volunteers and children.
- Aids in providing information towards working with families.
- Writes and implements age appropriate activity and lesson plans for educational and recreational purposes.
- Supervises and interacts with infants and children in the assigned classroom using appropriate guidance techniques.
- Ensures a safe environment and safe conditions on the playground.
- Prepares for lunch, snack and nap time.
- Consults with parents regarding the needs of ill children or children with behavioral problems.
- Maintains or exceeds health standards.
- Completes reports concerning child development and other center needs.
- May include supervision of classroom staff.
Qualifications
- One year of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
- Meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- A Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in Colorado, with a minimum of three (3) months (455 hours) of verifiable experience in the care and supervision of infants who are not related to the individual.
- A Licensed Practical Nurse, licensed to practice in Colorado, a minimum of nine (9) months (1,365 hours) of verifiable experience in the care and supervision of infants who are not related to the individual.
- An adult who holds a certificate in infant and toddler care from an accredited college or university with completion of a minimum of thirty (30) semester credit hours in the development and care of infants and toddlers in a group setting.
- An adult who is currently certified as a child development associate (CDA) in: Center-Based, Preschool; Center-Based, Infant-Toddler; or Family Child Care; and has completed the Infant/Toddler Theory and Practice or has been issued the Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Care Training certificate of completion.
- An adult who holds a current Early Childhood Professional Credential Level II or higher in Version 3.0, as determined by the Department, has a minimum of nine (9) months (1,365 hours) of verifiable experience in the care and supervision of infants and/or toddlers, and: (a) Has completed one (1) three (3) semester credit hour course in Infant/Toddler Development; or, (b) Has completed the Department-approved Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Care training course.
- An adult who: (a) Is at least nineteen (19) years of age; (b) Is qualified as an Early Childhood Teacher (Section 7.702.45, A); (c) Has a minimum of nine (9) months (1,365 hours) of verifiable experience in the group care of infants or toddlers; and, (d) Has completed at least two (2) three (3)-semester credit hour courses from an accredited college or university on the development and care of infants and toddlers in a group setting, one (1) of which must be: (i) Infant/Toddler Development; or, (ii) The Department-approved Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Care training course.
- An adult who: (a) Is at least nineteen (19) years of age; (b) Is qualified as an Early Childhood Teacher (Section 7.702.45, A); (c) Has a minimum of one (1) year and nine (9) months (3,185 hours) of verifiable experience in the group care and supervision of infants or toddlers; and, (d) Will complete, within the first six (6) months of employment, two (2) three (3)-semester credit hour courses from an accredited college or university, one (1) of which must be: (i) Infant/Toddler Development; or, (ii) The Department-approved Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Care training course.
