About the role

For more than 140 years, The Family Partnership has built strong families, vital communities, and better futures for children through counseling, education, and advocacy primarily in the greater Minneapolis and St. Paul area. Founded in 1878 as the Minneapolis Humane Society, the organization continually evolves to meet the changing needs of families and individuals, especially the most vulnerable in the community.

At The Family Partnership, you’ll partner with colleagues and the people served, embracing a two‑generation (whole family) approach that helps individuals heal from trauma and move toward greater health and well‑being. The workplace values open communication, transparency, cultural competence, inclusivity, and the opportunity to bring your authentic self to work. Employees are encouraged to share their views, and the organization is known for developing future leaders in the nonprofit sector.

Both positions serve preschool‑aged children in a full‑day therapeutic education and care program (ages 6 weeks to 5 years) committed to revitalizing the Dakota and Ojibwe languages. In partnership with Wicoie Nandagikendan, the Lead Teacher supports the Language Immersion Teacher during immersion hours and facilitates daily activities. Outside of immersion programming (afternoons, non‑immersion days, school breaks, and summer months), the Lead Teacher acts as the primary classroom teacher, responsible for lesson planning, curriculum implementation, classroom management, and family engagement.
