About the Role
The Lead Teacher at Auburn YMCA Early Learning Center is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate program in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures. This role involves planning and implementing a quality preschool program within the guidelines set by the center and governing bodies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a developmentally age-appropriate preschool program.
- Create a classroom environment aligned with the center’s goals and philosophy.
- Build children’s esteem and provide a secure, safe environment.
- Follow a curriculum that promotes literacy and pre-kindergarten readiness skills.
- Lead, manage, and delegate tasks to classroom staff as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with parents.
- Ensure classrooms and equipment are well maintained, clean, and safe.
- Provide a monthly newsletter detailing weekly activities and curriculum to parents.
Requirements
- Minimum of an associate's degree in early childhood development or related field.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a childcare setting.
- Must pass a satisfactory background check per NY Statewide Central Register Database and NYS Justice Center standards.
