Lead Systems Engineer
About the role
The Lead Product Engineer at Strattec will lead the design and engineering development of electro-mechanical products for various automotive closure systems. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading product design, engineering, and development of assigned programs.
- Conducting multi-disciplined design reviews on programs assigned.
- Maintaining Bill of Materials (BOM) on assigned products.
- Collaborating with manufacturing engineers and purchasing on component procurement.
- Representing Strattec in weekly Program Development Team meetings with customers.
- Utilizing Strattec's Program Development Process (PDP) for program implementation.
- Periodic travel required (~10%) for customer meetings and project development.
Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Responsible for product design, engineering, and development of assigned programs.
- Leads multi-disciplined design reviews on programs assigned.
- Maintains BOM on assigned products.
- Covers prototype builds on assigned programs, including development of prototype build control plan.
- Works closely with manufacturing engineers and purchasing on component procurement.
- Represents Strattec in weekly Program Development Team meetings with customer.
- Utilizes Strattec's Program Development Process (PDP) for program implementation.
- Periodic travel required (~10%) for customer meetings and project development.
Requirements
Qualifications include:
- Must have a BSME (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering).
- Must have 10+ years of experience in product development.
- Experience in mechatronics, mechanisms, and/or electro-mechanical system design is required.
- Good oral and written English language skills, with Korean language preferred and Spanish language desirable.
- Strong technical writing skills are required.
Qualifications
Must be able to conceptualize, plan, and develop small electro-mechanical devices and mechanisms.
Must be able to perform strength of material and static force calculations.
Must have experience with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
Must have experience in performing tolerance stacks.
Must have experience dimensioning and applying tolerances to components and assemblies.
Must have a working knowledge of GD&T principles.
Must have experience with design for manufacturability/assembly (mechanisms, metal stampings, plastic injection molded parts, die cast parts, gears etc).
Must have experience in working with CAE analysis team (FEA, ADAMS, Moldflow etc).
