Lead Systems Engineer

About the role

Honeywell Aerospace is seeking a Lead System Engineer to lead the Radar Altimeter group within the CNS organization. This role operates independently, provides guidance and oversight to others, and advises engineering and business leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to existing programs and develop new tasks as skills and familiarity grow
  • Operate as both System and Design/Development Engineer, managing both aspects of the product lifecycle
  • Develop requirements and system architecture, performing trade studies
  • Design to meet requirements (discipline dependent)
  • Test and validate designs, including bench testing, off-site test facilities, and flight testing
  • Draft respective program artifacts, such as systems requirement documents, test procedures, and reports
  • Support devices in production
  • Participate in proposals and cost estimation
  • Jump in and support other team members as needed
  • Perform RCCA on issues that arise during development and production
  • Stay updated on industry standards and trends, and implement actionable activities
  • Provide expert recommendations to engineering and business leadership on pursuits, developments, and product roadmaps

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • 10-15 years of aerospace-related work experience
  • Expert competence in Honeywell Aerospace-approved electrical tools and processes
  • Experience with Electronic Hardware, Electrical Design and Packaging, Xpedition, Schematic capture & Circuit Board Layout, Analysis (Matlab, SPICE), PDM (TeamCenter), and Electronic hardware design to meet MIL-810F and DO-160G environments
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC with respect to MIL-STD-461 or DO-160 (conducted/radiated, emissions/susceptibility)
  • Prototyping, Trade Study, and Hardware Cost Modeling experience
  • Previous leadership experience leading other engineers
  • Knowledge of RF based systems/designs/architecture and related challenges
  • Familiarity with aircraft avionics and their use in commercial and military aircraft
  • Understanding of FAA, TSO process, and MOPS content related to radar altimeters and their development and formal certification
  • Previous working exposure to DO-254 and DO-178
  • Self-motivated, multi-talented individual capable of working with little supervision and driving activity execution
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage and influence others in change initiatives
